Police: 36-Year-Old Man Struck, Killed In North Philadelphia Hit-And-Run

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) — Police say a 36-year-old man was struck and killed in a hit-and-run in North Philadelphia Monday night. The incident happened around 10 p.m. on the 2900 block of North Broad Street.

Police say the victim was crossing the street when he was struck by an SUV that then fled the scene.

Police say the man suffered severe head trauma and was pronounced dead at the scene.

Witnesses told police the man was crossing underneath a bridge, where there are no crosswalks. There were several car parts left at the scene police hope to use to track down the SUV.

“We also found some businesses in the immediate area that do have exterior surveillance cameras. So, accident investigators are contacting those business owners to see if those recordings recorded anything that can help us with this fatal hit-and-run auto accident,” Philadelphia Police Chief Inspector Scott Small said.

There is no word on the striking vehicle’s description.
