One Millersville University professor is really missing his students. York Daily Record
Turning on his camera, a Millersville University professor began to strum his guitar and record a song for his students banished from campus amid the coronavirus outbreak.
“A month ago, I didn’t need a microphone. A Zoom account was an unknown,” Alex DeCaria sang. “Those days are gone.”
DeCaria is a meteorology professor finishing up his 20th year of teaching at Millersville and to keep in contact with his students, he decided to film a video of himself singing his own version of Eric Carmen’s classic, “All By Myself.”
Classes resume for Millersville University on Monday, but the campus will remain almost completely empty. Instead, students and instructors will log on to their computers from their own offices, living rooms or dining rooms as classes resume completely online for the rest of the spring semester.
“I’ve never been a fan of online teaching — I actually tried to avoid it,” DeCaria said. “And now suddenly, it’s my only mode to reach and educate the students. It’s definitely going to be an adjustment.
