CORAOPOLIS (KDKA) — A George Floyd demonstration is currently ongoing in Coraopolis.
Congressman Conor Lamb was spotted at the protest.
Lamb voiced his support of the protesters and, at the end of his speech, encouraged people to “keep coming out.”
The Coraopolis Mayor and state Representative Anita Kulik were also present at the protest and spoke to demonstrators.
“We are at war with each other at times but we are first at war with ourselves,” said Mayor Shawn Reed. “…at the beginning of this week my hope was…to offer my ear and support of our leadership, our police department, to protect everyone that could be impacted and use this moment to start a conversation to continue long into the days ahead.”
“I can’t tell you how proud I am today to stand here with all of you as we stand for peace and justice and equally important coming together in public in prayer,” Kulik said.
Organizers say they plan for the protest to be peaceful.
