Lebanon High grad Todd Wike is combining his football background with his skills as a financial adviser in a most interesting and exciting way.
The former Lebanon High standout and All-American offensive lineman at the University of Maryland was recently formally recognized by the National Football League Players Association Association as a Registered Player Financial Adviser.
According to a press release issued by Wike’s employer, Potomac Financial Group in Calverton, MD., “The NFLPA Financial Advisors Registration Program designation is provided to a select group of qualified financial advisers that have met specific stringent eligibility criteria. With only 5 other NFLPA approved advisors in the state of Maryland and 123 nationwide, this exclusive recognition provides NFL players an additional level of defense from poor financial advice and investment fraud.”
“I’m very excited to be partnering with the NFLPA membership, a recognition that’s truly a testament to the client-centric care and fiduciary integrity provided to every client by the entire Potomac Financial Group team,” Wike said in the press release. “As a former NFL player, I’ve experienced first-hand the unique financial challenges that confront today’s professional athlete. It’s truly fulfilling to have the opportunity to pay this experience forward and help athletes thrive financially off the field, allowing them to dedicate their time, energy and passion on their playing career and achieving their dreams.”
Following a stellar football and basketball career at Lebanon, Wike, a 1998 grad, went on to star on the offensive line for the Terrapins, earning a first team All-American nod from ESPN, and twice was named a first team All-ACC performer, as well as to the ACC All-Academic Team.
