TONIGHT, A LOCAL CARE HOME DEALING WITH 39 NEW CASES OF COVID-19. MANOR CARE NORTH LEARNED THE NEWS WHEN IT GOT RESULTS BACK FROM ITS LATEST ROUND OF TESTS. PITTSBURGH’S ACTION NEWS 4 REPORTER KATELYN SYKES IS IN ROSS TOWNSHIP WITH REACTION, AND WHAT’S BEING DONE KATELYN: OFFICIALS AT MANOR CARE NORTH HILLS SAID THEY’RE COMMUNICATING WITH EMPLOYEES, PATIENTS AND THEIR FAMILIES IF THEY’RE AFFECTED OF IF THERE IS A RISK OF EXPOSURE. THEY SAY THEY’RE DOING EVERYTHING THEY CAN TO MINIMIZE RISK IN THE FACILITY. AN OUTBREAK OF COVID-19 AT THIS HEALTH SERVICES FACILITY IN THE NORTH HILLS. MANOR CARE NORTH HILLS ALONG PERRY HIGHWAY SAID REPEAT UNIVERSAL TESTING ON JULY 29 REVEALED 39 POSITIVE CASES AMONG RESIDENTS, 104 NEGATIVE RESULT RESULTS FOR STAFF STILL PENDING. THIS IS A COPY OF THE LETTER THE FACILITY SENT TO FRIENDS AND FAMILY THAT WAS SENT TO WTAE. THE LETTER STATES THOSE WHO TESTED POSITIVE ARE IN A DEDICATED COVID 19 UNIT, MANY OF WHICH ARE ASYMPTOMATIC, AND WILL REMAIN ISOLATED FOR 10 DAYS. THOSE WITH SYMPTOMS WILL ISOLATE FOR 10 DAYS ONCE THEIR SYMPTOMS ARE RESOLVED. WE REACHED OUT TO MANOR CARE FOR COMMENT TODAY. WHILE NO ONE WAS AVAILABLE FOR AN ON-CAMERA INTERVIEW, THEY DID RELEASE A STATEMENT SAYING THE HEALTH AND WELL-BEING OF THEIR PATIENTS AND EMPLOYEES REMAIN A TOP PRIORITY, AND ARE TAKING SEVERAL PRECAUTIONS TO KEEP THEM SAFE. THAT INCLUDES RESTRICTING NEW ADMISSIONS, TAKING REGULAR TEMPERATURE CHECKS OF ALL RESIDENTS, AND INCREASING SANITIZING AND CLEANING PROCESS, AMONG OTHERS. IT ALSO STATES THEY’VE CREATED AN AIRBORNE ISOLATION UNIT IN THE BUILDING FOR HIGHER RISK PATIENTS THE LETTER GOES ON TO SAY THEY’RE IN CLOSE COMMUNICATION WITH THE MEDICAL DIRECTOR, CLINICAL SUPPORT TEAM AND LOCAL AND STATE HEALTH OFFICIALS ABOUT THE APPROPRIATE STEPS TO BEST SERVE THE INTERESTS OF THE PATIENTS, EMPLOYEES AND VISITORS. Health services facility ManorCare Health Services North Hills has experienced an outbreak of COVID-19 among residents.Universal testing revealed 39 cases among residents and 104 negative results. Results for staff are still pending. Officials at ManorCare Health Services North Hills said that they’re communication with employees, patients and their families if they’re affected or if there is a risk of exposure.In a letter that the facility sent to friends and family, those who tested positive are in a dedicated COVID-19 unit and will remain isolated. They say they’re taking several precautions to minimize risk in the facility. This includes restriction new admissions, taking regular temperature checks of residents and increasing sanitizing and cleaning processes.
