Five people transported to hospital after car crash

Pittsburgh police are investigating after a two-vehicle crash left six people injured.Officers responded to the crash site at the intersection of Bates Street and Second Avenue around 12 p.m.Five people were transported to the hospital in stable condition.The driver of one vehicle fled the scene and jumped into the Monongahela River. He later swam back to the riverbank and got out, where officers picked him up. He had an outstanding warrant and left drug paraphernalia in the vehicle he was driving, so he was taken into custody.The investigation is ongoing.
