Crash shuts down part of Babcock Boulevard, causes power outage

A vehicle crash involving a telephone pole has shut down part of Babcock Boulevard in Ross Township Tuesday afternoon and caused a power outage in the area. Allegheny County officials confirmed the crash happened in the 3000 block of Babcock Boulevard around 2:45 p.m. Officials said there is a power outage affecting the traffic signals from McKnight/Babcock to McKnight/Siebert. As of 10 p.m., the 3000 block of Babcock Boulevard remains closed. Duquesne Light is working to restore power in the area. “Please note that this will be a long term closure. Responders are in the process of powering some intersections with generators on McKnight. Travelers should expect heavy traffic delays,” a tweet from Allegheny County said.
